Using a cutting machine
- Cricut cutting machines (Cricut Design Space software) → PNG and SVG files
- Silhouette cutting machines (Silhouette Studio software) → DXF file
- Laser cutting machines, such as a Glowforge
Making sure your software works with the files
- Cricut Design Space
- Silhouette Studio
- Adobe Illustrator
- Inkscape
- Makes the Cut (MTC)
- Corel Draw
- Sure Cuts a Lot (SCAL)
I recommend downloading a similar file from the Free SVG files section to confirm that your software will be able to use at least one of the file formats included.

Cutting the correct size for your wrist
TIP: A great way to avoid wasting material is to test the cut size by first cutting on a regular piece of printer paper. Once you’re happy with the size, cut it on your desired material for the perfect fit!

Size considerations for cutting earrings
I test all my earring designs on a Cricut to make sure they can cut between 1.5 inches to 2 inches in height without any problems. I use faux leather, but different faux leathers can vary.
Laser cutters can cut intricate detail at smaller sizes, so if you’re using a Glowforge or other laser cutter you can likely go smaller than if you’re using a Cricut or Silhouette.
In general, when designs are very intricate, err on the side of cutting a larger size.

Adding findings (hooks) to earrings
You can either loop these through the holes of the earrings, or you can add a jump ring, like the ones pictured below, between the ear wire and earring.
