About the leather cuff bracelet
This is a basic solid bracelet, which means it can look fairly boring in its simplest form. It’s a great design for stamping/tooling leather, and for showcasing really interesting and unique leather patterns and finishes. I might try my hand at leather stamping one day soon and this design would be great to try it on.
Below are some high-level photos of the process, and also the finished result.
If you’d like to make your own, I’ve written a post with step-by-step instructions on how to create these kinds of Cricut leather bracelets. If you’d rather just buy one, I sometimes sell similarly-styled laser-cut leather bracelets in my Etsy shop. See if there are any you like!
The making process
At a high level, the process involved:
- Finding/purchasing a piece of scrap leather at a local leather supply shop.
- Uploading this design file into Cricut Design Space.
- FYI, you can download this design for free if you’d like to make it. I also have other free bracelet patterns available on this site (just filter for bracelet files).
- Cutting the pattern using my Cricut Maker.
- This design is simple enough that you could probably cut it with a craft knife or scissors.
- Sealing the back of the leather for a smooth, professional finish, and to avoid shedding of the fibres.
- Adding snap fastener closures.
And that’s it! Here are some images of the process.
The finished result
Because this design is so simple, you don’t need any fancy equipment to cut it; a pair of sharp scissors or a craft knife will do. I think it would look great with some really unique-patterned leather.
Some of the more intricate bracelets aren’t suitable for really cool leathers because most of the leather gets cut and you can’t appreciate the pattern. But a solid shape like this would let the leather really stand out.
I like the simplicity of the design and it’s a great option for when you stumble on a really unique, cool-looking leather!
