About the leather cuff bracelet
This bracelet turned out better than I expected. I love using the laser-cutter; the lines are clean and I was able to use a thicker leather than what I can use with my Cricut.
The leather dye I used turned out to be a really vibrant red that really stands out. The rose pattern looks gorgeous; you can download this design for free if you like (see the link to the download page below). Whenever I wear this bracelet, it always gets compliments!
Below are some high-level photos of the process, and also the finished result.
If you’d like to make your own, I’ve written a post with step-by-step instructions on how to create these kinds of leather bracelets using a Cricut cutting machine. If you’d rather just buy one, I sometimes sell similarly-styled laser-cut leather bracelets in my Etsy shop. See if there are any you like!
The making process
At a high level, the process involved:
- Finding/purchasing vegtan leather at a local leather supply shop.
- I chose a thicker leather that wasn’t too stiff, and was a lighter colour so that the colour of the dye would really stand out.
- Uploading this design file into Cricut Design Space.
- FYI, you can download this free design if you’d like to make it! I also have other free bracelet patterns available on this site (just filter for bracelet cut files).
- Cutting the pattern using a laser cutting machine.
- Dyeing the bracelet using Fiebing’s Pro dye in red.
- Buffing out the extra dye, applying a conditioning oil, and then sealing the leather with a finishing product.
- Adding snap fastener closures.
And that’s it! Here are some images of the process.
The finished result
This simple design is eye-catching, and the red really pops. It’s one of my favourites to wear. 🙂
