About the leather cuff bracelet
I made this bracelet using a really interesting leather I found at my local leather shop in the scrap box. It has sort of a dull silver textured finish, and it cuts really well with the Cricut deep-cut blade.
Visually, I don’t think it’s the most interesting leather, but it’s kind of subtle and unique. I tend to like bright colours, but some days you just need to tone it down ;). This bracelet is perfect for those days. Also, sand dollars are freaking cool, so I’m quite fond of this design.
Below are photos of the finished result.
If you’d like to make your own, I’ve written a post with step-by-step instructions on how to create these kinds of Cricut leather bracelets. If you’d rather just buy one, I sometimes sell similarly-styled laser-cut leather bracelets in my Etsy shop. See if there are any you like!
The making process
At a high level, the process involved:
- Finding/purchasing the leather I used at a local leather supply shop. This was a large piece but was pretty inexpensive (I think maybe $7 for large scrap piece that I could probably make 15 bracelets out of).
- Uploading this design file into Cricut Design Space.
- FYI, you can purchase this design (along with three other marine-themed designs that come in the same bundle) in my Etsy shop for a few dollars if you’d like to make it! I also have free bracelet patterns available on this site (just filter for bracelet files).
- Cutting the pattern using my Cricut Maker.
- Sealing the back of the leather with a finishing product. This helps keep the fibres nice and smooth, and prevents them from shedding.
- Adding snap fastener closures.
And that’s it! Sadly, I didn’t take any photos of the making process. But below are some of the finished bracelet. Enjoy!
The finished result
The sand-dollar design cut really well with my Cricut, and the leather was perfect for the design. The cut lines are crisp and the back didn’t shed much, but I sealed it anyways because I prefer the look of smoother fibres laying flat on the back. It’s more professional and it means there will be no shedding.
Overall, it turned out great!
