About the leather cuff bracelet
I love this design and thought it would look really nice with a silvery finished leather. It turned out prettier than I anticipated! I think it would be a lovely finishing touch on those less casual days.
Below are some high-level photos of the process, and also the finished result.
If you’d like to make your own, I’ve written a post with step-by-step instructions on how to create these kinds of Cricut leather bracelets. If you’d rather just buy one, I sometimes sell similarly-styled laser-cut leather bracelets in my Etsy shop. See if there are any you like!
The making process
If you want a detailed step-by-step, see this video tutorial:
At a high level, the process involved:
- Finding/purchasing a piece of scrap leather at a local leather supply shop. It’s rare to find a piece this pretty, but I got lucky on that particular visit. You never know what you’ll find in the scrap bins with a little persistance!
- Uploading this design file into Cricut Design Space.
- FYI, you can purchase this design (along with two other designs that come in the same bundle) in my Etsy shop for a few dollars if you’d like to make it! I also have free bracelet patterns available on this site (just filter for bracelet files).
- Cutting the pattern using my Cricut Maker.
- Sealing the back of the leather with a finishing product. This helps keep the fibres nice and smooth, and prevents them from shedding.
- Adding snap fastener closures.
And that’s it! Here are some images of the process.
The finished result
This leather has just enough firmness to make for a nice bracelet (any floppier and it would be too much like a fabric) and cuts beautifully using the Cricut deep-point blade.
I also love how the back looks, and I could even have gotten away without sealing it since there was very little shedding of the fibres to begin with. But I like the extra touch of professionalism that sealing gives it.
Overall, this might be my prettiest one yet!
